This is the first book with the “Dummies” theme. Deanna Sclar deserves much praise and attention for this theme which has been adopted by so many. Ahead of her time!

Okay, the title should have given me a clue, but I have a couple of old 57 Dodge trucks and thought the sections on carburetors and distributors would come in handy. They did, in a very broad sort of way. But there really wasn’t much in this book that did more than rephrase what I already knew.

I don’t own a car, but this book was recommended to me by a friend (OK, my therapist…) to get me ready to “climb into the driver’s seat.” It helped me greatly. In other words, VROOM VROOM VROOM if you know what I mean! This isn’t one of those books that make you want to brush your teeth. Now I feel like I understand how cars work, so I can smell the coffee (that’s right!) now as well as the chocolates. I liked the line “No pain – no stain!” Thank you Deanna for creating a safe haven for those of us too afraid to ask the service man for servicing.

BASIC. GOOD FOR THE PERSON WHO HAS NO IDEA AND YET HAS SOME TIDSBITS FOR THE EXPERIANCED CAR CARE PERSON.

this book is ok, but it really dosent help at all. I suggest just reading your manual in the glove box of your car. But if you want to prove me wrong then go ahead.
